How to Import the RentPress GA4 Event Tag and Trigger to Google Tag Manager

Follow these steps to import the RentPress GA4 Tag and Trigger to Google Tag Manager

  1. Download the Json file containing the tag here.
  2. Go to tagmanager.google.com and sign in to your account
  3. Use the search function to locate the property that needs RentPress events enabled. 
  4. Select the container from the list to enter its workspace. 
  5. Using the navigation at the top of the screen, select “Admin.”
  6. Under “Container” on the right, select “Import Container.”
  7. In the window that follows, select “Choose container file.”
  8. This will open up your system documents. Locate the file downloaded from step 1, titled “RentPress-GA4-EventsConfig.json” and open it. 
  9. Under “Choose workspace” select “existing,” and in the following window select “default workspace.”
  10. Under “Choose an import option,” select the bubble next to “Merge,” then do the same for “Rename conflicting tags, triggers and variables.”
  11. Click “Confirm.”
  12. You will be returned to the “Overview” page. Click “Tags” in the navigation on the left.
  13. Locate the tag named “RentPress GA4 Event” and click it to open. 
  14. In the following window, hover over the box titled “Tag Configuration” and click the pencil icon to edit it. 
  15. Under “Configuration Tag,” select the dropdown and choose the GA4 ID that you’d like to send events to. 
    1. If you cannot find the GA4 ID that you’d like to connect in the dropdown, you can set it manually by choosing “None – Manually Set ID.” Refer to Google’s official documentation for locating your GA4 ID
  16. Click “Save” in the top right corner. 
  17. Publish your container by clicking the “Submit” button in the top right corner. Set a version name as whatever you like – we recommend something descriptive like “RentPress GA4 Event Tag Install.” Then, click the “Publish” button.
